Marc Forster will helm Max Brooks adaptation

Fresh off the expected success of "Quantum of Solace," Marc Forster has signed on to direct Paramount's adaptation of "World War Z."
Set to be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B shingle, "World War Z" is based on the book by Max Brooks, a first-person oral history of the aftermath of a massive zombie crisis, told through the eyes of survivors around the world.
The book, which lacks any sort of central characters or dramatic arc, has been adapted by J. Michael Straczynski ("Changeling").
According to Variety, Forster was attracted to the script, comparing it to '70s political thrillers like "All the President's Men" (only with zombies).
"Quantum of Solace," already an international smash, represents a change of pace for Forster, whose previous directing credits include "Monster's Ball," "Finding Neverland" and "The Kite Runner."

didn't read this book, but i read the survival guide. back in high school, i thought zombies were srs business and i had to prepare. i even planned out several uses of objects in my dorm room just in case of an epidemic. no lie.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is so eager to finally give birth that she may induce labor, her sister Jessica Simpson says.
"They're going to have to. It's already developing really quick," Jessica said Monday at a taping of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Ashlee – described by husband Pete Wentz more than two weeks ago as due at any moment – has already tried other ways to begin labor.
"Different foot massages and stuff," Jessica told DeGeneres in the show airing Wednesday. "I don't know. I think she's really just jumping around trying everything right now."

Discussions about the Beatles' songwriting invariably centers on Lennon and McCartney’s combined gift for memorable melodies and inspired craftsmanship. Often lost in the analysis, however, is the fact that the Fab Four also came up with some of rock's greatest guitar riffs. Below are 10 songs that testify to the band's ability to craft a song around an elegantly structured six-string line.

Hilary Duff Wants To Guest Star On 'The Office'

The singer and 'Lizzie McGuire' star is returning to her TV roots.
By Jocelyn Vena
Hilary Duff is no stranger to working on sitcoms, having started on Disney's "Lizzie McGuire." Now, after launching a successful career in movies and music, she's ready to head back to the small screen, this time for NBC.
"Well, right now it's a development deal," she told Tim Kash backstage at "Total Finale Live" Sunday night. "We're going to be working together to try to put a great show together. It's not like I know what the material is going to be yet.
"I get to call all the shots!" the 21-year-old joked. But though she's in control, she doesn't seem to have pinned down any specifics about what she wants to do. "I think I would like to do something funny, so probably a comedy. It's hard to sit here and say, 'I want to be this character and this character.'
"I would like to do something funny ... or I would like to kick ass or something," continued the star of "A Cinderella Story" and "Cheaper by the Dozen." "[I'd want to] be some kind of ? not a superhero, but some young person that's empowering and that does something no one expects from her, like take care of problems."
Through the network deal, Duff will not only work on her own show, but will also get to make cameos and have story lines on already existing shows. And she already has a wish list of guest appearances.
"[NBC has] great shows to have arcs on," Duff said. "I would love to do something on 'The Office.' '30 Rock' is great, very funny. Many people have done lots of guest spots on it this season."

Miley Cyrus, Oscar Winner? It's Possible

The idea that Miley Cyrus could soon reign in the Oscar pantheon beside Katharine Hepburn, Barbra Streisand and Oscar Hammerstein II may seem preposterous, but, hey, stop laughing! Seriously, it could happen — this year.
If the animated flick "Bolt" is a box-office hit when it opens next week, then it'll be a serious Oscar contender — especially in the music categories. That's where Miley Cyrus could be a contender in the race for best song, since she not only croons "I Thought I Lost You" with John Travolta, but she shares writing credit with Jeffrey Steele.
Disney films dominate the song category, of course. Heck, three tunes from "Enchanted" got nominated last year. Sure, they lost to "Falling Slowly" from "Once," but tunes from six Disney films have won best song over the last 20 years: "Tarzan," "Pocahontas," "The Lion King," "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid."
However, Miley Cyrus' Oscar hopes face a serious obstacle and lots of Disney competition. "I Thought I Lost You" plays over the film's end credits. That's usually a bad thing since nominees are decided by members of the music branch who watch videos to see how the music is incorporated into the film. Songs that are showcased in dramatic action like "Falling Slowly" have a strong edge.
There are lots of other Disney songs this year too. There's "Down to Earth" from "Wall-E," which is sung by Peter Gabriel (over the end credits, alas). And four tunes are being campaigned from "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" — "I Want It All," "A Night to Remember," "Scream," and "Can I Have This Dance?" According to new academy rules, only two tunes from a film may be nominated, down from three last year.
Assuming two "High School Musical 3" songs get in, there are lots of other strong contenders this year too, such as "Jai Ho" — the joyous grand finale of "Slumdog Millionaire." There's also Bruce Springsteen's "The Wrestler" from the Mickey Rourke film of the same name, Will.i.am's "Traveling Song" from "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," Jennifer Hudson's "All Dressed Up in Love" from "Sex and the City," Alicia Keys' and Jack White's "Another Way to Die" from "Quantum of Solace" and Jamie Cullum's song co-written with Clint Eastwood for "Gran Torino."
Competition may be tough, but the headstrong "Hannah Montana" star is determine to win someday. As Miley Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet outside the Kodak Theatre earlier this year.
sourceOMG...if she wins an Oscar before Kate Winslet, I swear...
